Time Out #53 - Inspired by Words

Hi friends!  The challenge this time around on the Time Out blog is the Inspired by Words challenge.  We give you a quote to be inspired by, and the quote is a goodie!
"A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water"
by Eleanor Roosevelt

I knew I had a stamp with this quote, and it took me a minute to find it in my collection of stamps but I found it!  It's from an old My Time Made Easy set that you can't get in a stamp anymore (I don't think!), however you may be able to get it in digital form here.  I die cut the stack of tea cups and colored them with copics to match the paper.  I also covered all of them with Wink of Stella.  I added some sequins and ribbon, which I haven't used in forever!

I'm playing along with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week.  I haven't played in that challenge in quite a while!
Just a reminder that our Time Out challenges usually run for two weeks, however, we made a boo-boo and scheduled this for only one week!  So hurry and get your entry in!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #366 - Photo Week

Happy Saturday!  This week is Photo Week over at Just Us Girls, and Nancy has chosen this really cool seaside birthday cake as inspiration for us.

I honestly don't have many stamps with shells and starfish, but I did find this Dockside stamp set from WPlus9.  To start, I inked up an old background cheesecloth stamp from SU in Kraft ink and stamped it off before stamping on the white layer.  Then I stamped the rope in the Kraft ink as well.  The focal image was stamped and die cut with a pierced circle die and matted on a blue die cut piece.  That was mounted on craft foam for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment at the bottom and rounded the bottom corners before adhering it all together.

I followed this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch, but had to put my sentiment at the bottom.  I hope I don't get thrown out of the challenge!

Just Us Girls #335 - Color Week

Hi all!  It's color week over at Just Us Girls, and Chris has some pretty spring colors for us to use!

I've been loving creating CAS cards lately.  I just love this one!  I took a floral stencil and used the three challenge colors with it.  I stamped the sentiment and added sequins then mounted that on a light pink mat.  I rounded one corner for some interest.  I'm going to stamp an Easter sentiment on the inside and send it off to a family member.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketches for my layout.

Time Out Challenge #52 - CASE with your own twist

Hi all!  It's time for another Time Out challenge.  This challenge is our CASE with your own twist.

This is the card we are CASE-ing by Marjan Kuppers.

I was inspired by the flowers and the green dots.  I liked the watercolor effect of the flowers, so I pulled out one of my all-time favorite Penny Black flower stamps and used watercolor crayons to color right on the rubber.  Then I spritzed it with water and stamped.  I covered it with Wink of Stella for some shimmer.  I used a stencil and peeled paint distress ink on the main panel to get the dots.  I added the sentiment (an old Hero Arts stamp) and sequins.

Time Out #51 - Reminder

Hi friends!  We are in week two of our current Time Out challenge.   I have a reminder card to share with you.

Our challenge is a theme challenge with an optional technique twist.  The theme is Easter and/or Spring and the twist is masking.

I didn't twist with this challenge, and I chose the theme of Easter for my card.  I die cut a tag and created an Easter scene on it with a bunny and a chick.  They were die cut from pattern paper.  I added the grass and sponged some clouds in the background.  The base of the card was sponged also with some lilac ink.  I added some seam binding and sequins to the tag along with the sentiments.

Just Us Girls #333 - Word Week

Happy Saturday everyone!  It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls, and Maria has chosen what I think is going to be a popular word...Flowers!  Everyone loves flowers, right?

While this card looks simple, it took a couple of tries to do that banner panel!  Don't ask!  I stamped, colored with copics, and die cut that flower.  Then I die cut the banner and stamped the horizontal image, the leaves (which were stamped off before stamping on the banner to get the right color) and the sentiment.  The flower was added with dimensional tape.  I added sequins and star dust stickles on the flower center.  The white panel was embossed with an embossing folder.

I took my color palette from this week's Color Throwdown.

And my layout was from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.

Time Out Challenge #51 - Theme Challenge and Our 2nd Birthday!

The Time Out challenge blog is celebrating it's 2nd birthday this week!  Time sure has flown by!
We have a theme challenge with an optional technique twist for you this time around.  The theme is Easter and/or Spring and the twist is masking.

I didn't do any masking on my card, but I chose to use a butterfly and the sentiment to go with the spring theme.  I started out by sponging different colored inks on the butterfly die cut, which was cut from watercolor paper.  Then I stamped it in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I covered the entire butterfly with Wink of Stella.  The butterfly tail was impressed with another die.  I added some stamping and sequins around the butterfly and sentiment.

I played in a couple of challenges.  I hope they don't expire before I get around to posting this!
***ETA:  Looks like I was too late for both challenges!  :-(***

I used the colors from the Colour Q challenge #330.

I also used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #161.

Our challenge is sponsored by STAMPlorations.  The winner will receive a $20 gift voucher.  A random drawing for those who twist will win two standard sized ARTploration stencils.

You can see more inspiration from our design team and our guest for this challenge, TaeEun, on the Time Out blog.
